Monday in Mytilini

Same taxi driver who brought me to Molyvos picked me up at 9.30am (still marvelling at how he manoeuvers his car through the narrow lane) and brought me back to Mytilini. After checking into Blue Sea Hotel went straight to Eresso Travel and the spent next 3 hours arranging my excursion to Troy (had to skip lunch). Numerous phone later, everything was sorted out. At the same time booked my flight to Santorini on Wednesday 14th (via Athens airport). Getting around the islands is a pain if they are not in the same cluster. In this case I was travelling from the NE Aegean to the Cyclades islands.
Had a cheap and tasty meal this evening round the corner from the hotel, at a modest looking old style pub where only locals where hanging out. Sat outside and ordered the 'Snacks with Beer' to go with my Mythos beer. What I got was three side plates. The first held two loaves of warmed up bread; the second was a cold dish of tomatoes, cucumber, olives, pickle and two small slabs of cheese; the third was a hot dish of a generous serving of fava beans, one small chicken drumstick, two cubes of pork and a soggy wilted capsicum, all swimming in olive oil. Boy was it good! Or maybe I was hungry since I hadn't eaten since breakfast. Total cost was 4.00 Euros.
