Wotaweek II : Prologue

Would you believe it! Regarding the earlier Wotaweek blog, I was given the deadline of end March but the article was really meant for the May issue! No matter, it was finally published and I was credited as a photojournalist! With all that stress behind me I was looking forward to my return trip to Kuching in July to attend the Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) for the second time, having enjoyed the previous experience. Margaret was busy teaching so I had gone on my own as was prepared for another solo trip. I was surprised when my cousin SM expressed interest in joining me and was glad for the company. Hoping to earn some beer money on the side I contacted a local tabloid and the same magazine I had just done work for, on the off-chance that they might be interested in covering the event. They both were, particularly if I could provide good photos. The prompted the thought that I should try to obtain a press pass so I requested the aid of my clients in securing one for me. Both separately succeeded in convincing the organiser to assign one for their representative (me) but since it was ridiculous having two under my name, I appointed my cousin ‘Assistant’ and submitted his name as well. His leisurely holiday had just been torpedoed but I needed his help now that I had official ‘media duties’.
